| The Educational Forum does its part for the war effort |
| In 1941, the editor of The Educational Forum, Alfred L. Hall-Quest announced that the journal was going to do its part to support the pending effort required to win World War II. He noted the growing sentiment in American schools that used a lot of paper that they were fast becoming “friends of Hitler” (Educational Forum 1941, 4) “On every hand, curtailments are the order and necessity of the house, and rightly so,” Hall-Quest wrote (4). He announced that the Forum would do its part by conforming to “a policy of conservation of natural resources” by using a lighter paper stock and discontinuing illustrations in the journal (4). “The amount, and we believe the quality, of the reading matter will remain the same as in previous issues. If our readers voice an urgent request for a return to the policy of using illustrations, it is likely that in the next volume this feature of the magazine can be resumed” (4). |
