Fiscal Responsibility. Annual financial activities, such as the operations audit (performed by Greenwalt Sponsel & Co., Inc.), quarterly investment meetings, semiannual chapter rebates, and participation in Executive Council and Budget Committee meetings, took place as usual.
The 2007–2008 fiscal year was challenging for the Administration area. Personnel changes, an upgrade to the membership database, and a quickly declining stock market, as well as renewal numbers have put the Society in a predicament. Initiate numbers remained steady, which helped with the decline in renewals, but not enough for the Society to exceed the budgeted performance level for the year. With the start of the KDP Connect initiative, the Web Portal, and a strong focus on membership, renewal numbers should increase and steer the Society into a stronger financial setting.

Technology. KDP Headquarters has changed its bulk e-mail delivery service to ExactTarget, which will enhance KDP’s ability to communicate with members and provide much needed reporting features. The first phase of the Web portal implementation is operational; through the Web portal, members now can update their profile online and chapters can update their officers online. Two more phases of the Web Portal implementation include the online initiate process and membership directory, which should be complete by the end of 2008. Updates to the membership directory and accounting software are scheduled, as well as the addition of a new SharePoint Web server for the KDP Connect initiative that will add Wiki, Blog, RSS, and other collaboration tools.

KDP Store. The outsourcing of the Society’s store has proven to be a success, boasting a $20,000 increase in net profit compared to the previous two years. New honor cords, a permanent membership plaque, a redesigned travel mug, and a silver charm have been added to the store inventory. New apparel has been designed, and most of it is in the store currently. KDP is researching a replacement for the green tote and messenger bag as well as the possibility of including party packs (for celebrations such as initiations) in the available inventory.
