Looking Ahead

“Now is the accepted time, not tomorrow, not some more convenient season.
It is today that our best work can be done and not some future day or future year.
It is today that we fit ourselves for the greater usefulness of tomorrow. Today is the seed time, now are the hours of work, and tomorrow comes the harvest and the playtime.”

  W. E. B. Du Bois, American Scholar, Sociologist, and Civil Rights Leader, 1868–1963

Looking ahead to the future means setting our aims today and getting right to work—making every day count. With a strong and dedicated membership, Kappa Delta Pi can accomplish a great deal toward its core values and ideals of fidelity to humanity, science, service, and toil.

The power of our Society is strengthened by our numbers, and so increasing our membership and the value that our members receive are crucial. To grow and retain members, KDP must provide services, resources, and programs that actively engage each member and that meet his or her needs—whether the member is a new initiate, a beginning teacher, an experienced teacher, a doctoral candidate, or a longer-term member. An effort to appeal to the needs of classroom practitioners, for example, through a professional chapter network, is among initiatives being addressed. “One-size-fits-all” doesn’t work; the Society is striving to tailor its offerings to meet the needs of various segments of members and to create communities of learning.

Technology will play an important role in the effective delivery of segmented services. With vision and the help of technology, the Society will enter into a new future—one that continues to dedicate itself to scholarship and excellence in education.
