How To:
Reserve the date, times, and location to hold the auction.
Obtain volunteers to hold the event.
Call local businesses to get monetary or material donations for the event.
Advertise the event.
On the day of the event, set up the tables and signs, and lay out a sheet for customers to write in their bids.
Designate the closing time for the bidding.
Establish an alternate pick-up date and location for winners who are unable to stay until the designated closing time during the auction.
Explain to bidders that they must provide their contact information and their silent bid; tell them when to check back for winners and pick up their items.
Note what will happen with items not retrieved by the alternate pick-up date. For example, be prepared to give the item to the next highest bidder.

Add a Twist:

Host the event at the local mall or another location that is free to reserve.
Have KDP members work the auction tables in one-hour slots. Provide sign-up sheets at a member meeting.
Use the School of Education office as the alternate pick-up location for winners.
Provide bidders with a pamphlet describing the KDP chapter and School of Education.
Contact chapter alumni to tell them about the event.
Create and display a poster at the auction showcasing the chapter.
