Level: Moderate
Materials:
| • | Chairperson for the event |
| • | Location for the event |
| • | Invitations created for the student teachers |
| • | Marketing materials |
| • | Food supplies |
| • | Gifts/packages for the student teachers |
How to:
| 1. | Choose who will chair this event. |
| 2. | Set up date and location (park for a picnic, counselor’s house for a barbeque, or the school for an ice cream social). Location will help you determine what food needs to be purchased. |
| 3. | Create invitations for student teachers and put up flyers and other marketing materials for the rest of the membership. Purchase food, gifts, and decorations. |
| 4. | Ask members to RSVP so the amount of food purchased will be sufficient. |
| 5. | Purchase the food, gifts for student teachers, and decorations. |
| 6. | The chairperson and committee for this event should arrive at the location at least 1-1/2 hours before to set up. |
| 7. | As members arrive they can begin eating and socializing. When there are enough people in attendance have a few icebreakers or games planned to keep things upbeat and moving. After the games are over, begin giving gifts to those members who are about to begin student teaching. |
| 8. | Ask for feedback about the event. |
Add a twist:
| • | Add a speaker or small workshop to the program. |
