How to:
| 1. | Request information from local museum (i.e. art, history, etc.) to coordinate the event. |
| 2. | Partner with local school administrators and classroom teacher(s) for the field trip. |
| 3. | Determine day’s order of events. |
| 4. | Develop committee for event, including members and parents, if appropriate; |
| 5. | Send and retrieve all permission slips. |
| 6. | Contact transportation services (i.e., school bus system) to coordinate travel and times. |
| 7. | Assign members and/or parents as helpers/monitors. |
| 8. | Provide lessons about the museum artifacts; |
| 9. | Complete the field trip. |
| 10. | Ensure students complete the assessment tool. |
| 11. | Send thank-you cards to everyone who assisted, including school administrator for cohosting event. |
Add a twist:
| • | Quiz students on museum facts throughout the field trip. |
| • | Ask students to give presentations before or during the museum tour. |
