Following approval by the KDP Executive Council to start a chapter on your campus, a congratulatory letter and a description of the chapter models, is sent to the chapter counselor, along with a request to schedule an initial conference call between the Chapter Services Assistant and the counselor and education administrators.  The purpose of the call is to outline and provide an overview of the chapter building process, the planning benchmarks, the support for the new group, and arrangements for the installation ceremony. Additionally, a schedule will be set for subsequent training calls. Prior to the conference call, the counselor should determine the chapter model, based on which model best suits the needs of the new chapter.

Chapter Building Process

1. Recruit initial members and assign officer positions.
2. Establish a presence on campus and begin marketing.
3. Recruit charter members.
4. Plan and build structure for chapter governance and operations.
5. Develop chapter programming.
6. Obtain final Instructions for installation ceremony and celebration.

Schedule of Training Calls
Training calls will be scheduled between the Regional Chapter Coordinator and the chapter counselor and various student members or officers at approximately two-week intervals until the scheduled installation date. These calls are for training purposes and to provide resources regarding effective set up for the chapter and its operations. Through this series of 30–60-minute calls, the information relayed can be broken down into manageable bits to help ease the start-up process.
