Background
Established in 1995, the Achieving Chapter Excellence (ACE) Awards Program recognizes KDP
chapters that exhibit outstanding programming in support of the Society’s mission and strategic
goals. Since ACE’s inception, chapters around the country have aspired to offer creative, purposeful
programs in hope of earning this coveted award.

Awards Program Procedures
Each chapter’s entry was submitted in a portfolio with documentation of programs the chapter conducted during the past biennium. In addition to documenting specific programming, such as new-member orientation, leadership development, and membership recruitment and retention, chapters provided evidence of activities in support of the following outcome categories:
• Recognition
• Ideals
• Practices, Inquiry, and Reflection
• Professional and Leadership Development
• Fellowship
The ACE Award is presented to every chapter that met the core requirements and delivered
outstanding programs in each of these categories.

Zeta Iota Chapter carries out three initiations per year to ensure that all eligible students take advantage of KDP membership. The spirit of the Society is always in the forefront of the campus because of various KDP items the chapter purchases to sell to members. This year Zeta Iota established a $2,500 scholarship through the Educational Foundation in honor of former member David Kent Miller, and it formed a Future Educators of America Association at the University High School. On June 9, 2006, the the Chapter promoted KDP by appearing on a live show on CBS.
