Come celebrate Awards for Education Excellence given to chapters and individual members for significant contributions to the Society and the field of education. Award winners will be recognized during various Convo programs, such as the Opening Session and the Closing Banquet. Information on awards and applications can be found here. CHAPTER AWARDS

Achieving Chapter Excellence Award (ACE) Many chapters have exceptional programming. Others have fantastic leaders. Still others have active and highly involved members. It takes a very special chapter to excel at all three. For those particular chapters, KDP offers the opportunity to earn recognition through the Achieving Chapter Excellence Award, or ACE. Deadline: May 1, 2011 Program Awards Does your chapter conduct an absolutely amazing event that your members believe is worthy of national recognition? The Program Awards are designed for chapters that have one or more exceptional programs, but do not qualify for the ACE award. Programs are recognized in the following areas: Service, Professional Development, Fund-raising, Communication, and Membership. Deadline: May 1, 2011 Phoenix Award for Chapter Improvement The Phoenix Award recognizes those chapters that have taken significant action to improve their overall level of effectiveness in chapter management and programming as defined by chapter model expectations. Deadline: May 15, 2011 Rising Star Award for New Chapters When institutions charter a new chapter, they have the challenge and excitement of building an exceptional chapter from the get-go. The Rising Star Award recognizes this accomplishment by honoring KDP’s newest chapters for outstanding chapter operations in their first biennium. Deadline: May 15, 2011

INDIVIDUAL AWARDS

Distinguished Chapter Officer Award The Distinguished Chapter Officer Award honors officers who set a positive example for the chapter by representing the ideals of KDP. Each chapter can nominate one officer to apply for this award. Deadline: May 15, 2011 O. L. Davis, Jr. Counselor of Distinction Award The O. L. Davis, Jr. Counselor of Distinction Award honors counselors who demonstrate service, personal scholarship, professional development, outstanding leadership of the chapter and mentorship of the chapter’s student leaders. Deadline: June 1, 2011 Regional Counselor Award The Regional Counselor Award recognizes a dedicated counselor from each region who excels in his or her role for that region. The most outstanding Regional Counselor is honored with the Lucinda Rose Award. This award is not an application award and does not have an external deadline. Lucinda Rose Counselor Award The Lucinda Rose Counselor Award is presented only to the best of the best counselors in KDP. Funded by Drs. Vincent and Linda McGrath, this esteemed honor is given to an outstanding KDP counselor who has 10 or more years of service as a counselor/associate counselor.
