MOMENTS IN KDP HISTORY: Your Reflections and Stories
You are invited to share your thoughts and reflections on the role of Kappa Delta Pi over the years. As part of the Centennial Celebration, a special “Moments in KDP History” area will be set up near Room 109. Plan to stop by and be interviewed during one of the times below or to listen to the stories of other members. The interviews will be videotaped and included in the Centennial Time Capsule.
Thursday, November 3     9:00–11:30 a.m.
Friday, November 4          8:00–10:00 a.m. and 2:00–4:00 p.m.
Saturday, November 5     1:30–3:30 p.m.
If you prefer to share your experiences in writing, special archival paper will be available. All written reflections will be collected at the KDP Registration Desk until noon on Saturday for inclusion in the Time Capsule during the Celebration Banquet. They also may be shared by an Interview Host during any of the scheduled sessions.

In 1911, the founders of Kappa Delta Pi could not predict the impact the Society would have on individual educators nor the teaching profession. Your contribution will assist in personalizing our historic developments as an International Honor Society and prove valuable to future KDP leaders.
FIRST TIMERS ORIENTATION
Thursday, Nov. 3, 1:00–1:45 p.m.
This session provides a warm welcome for first-time attendees and gives helpful hints for making the most of your time at Convo. Learn tips on presenting a professional appearance, getting the most out of attending workshops, and networking and meeting others effectively so you can have an exceptional conference experience.
NEW! REGIONAL SOCIALS
Thursday, Nov. 3, 7:00–9:00 p.m.
Looking for a reason to get out of the hotel during Convo? Hoping to explore our host city? Would you like to find a place to reconnect with old friends, meet new people, or make new professional contacts? We’ve got it! Regional Socials are the place to be!

Come to the Regional Socials on the first night of Convo to meet others in your region. Based on and developed from your feedback, the Regional Socials are set up so that each region has a designated location to get together—but, of course, you are free to visit other regions throughout the evening. The Socials promise to be exciting, so make it a point to stop by. This is also a good time to introduce yourself to your Regional Chapter Coordinator!
NEW! NETWORKING LUNCH
Friday, Nov. 4, 12:15–1:30 p.m.
KDP provides the box lunch, you provide the discussion. Pick up your lunch and join your peers in small groups of 8–10 to discuss topics or issues relevant to you. This is a unique opportunity to share and learn in an open environment. We provide the topics, but the content discussed will be decided by the participants. You are encouraged to use the Law of Two Feet—if you go to a group and it isn’t what you had hoped, you are encouraged to get up and move to another group.
CAREER FAIR
Saturday, Nov. 5, 2:30—5:00 p.m.
The Career Fair during Convo brings together school administrators and candidates, and also is a live showcase of the online KDP Career Center. For administrators, the event provides an efficient and economical way to assist employers looking for qualified candidates in all educational fields. For job seekers, the fair provides licensed candidates a one-stop opportunity to contact a large number of employers to initiate the application process. KDP has partnered with the American Association for Employment in Education (AAEE) to offer this event.
CLOSING BANQUET* (Ace of the ACE and Lucinda Rode awards presented)
Saturday, November 5th – 6:30–8:30 p.m.
The Closing Banquet is a formal event with a grand sit-down dinner, which will feature an address by the 2011 National Teacher of the Year and presentation of various awards including the National Student Teacher of the Year, the Lucinda Rose Award, and the Achieving Chapter Excellence Award. The Centennial Celebration will close out with the presentation of the official time capsule and a look back at KDP’s rich legacy over the last 100 years.
*Guests welcome (requires an additional charge)
CELEBRATION DANCE
Saturday, Nov. 5, 9:00–11:00 p.m.
Come celebrate 100 years of KDP at the Convo Counting Down the Decades Dance! Following the Closing Banquet, the Decades Dance is part of the KDP Centennial Celebration Saturday night. Chapters are invited to participate by preparing a dance from one of the decades in the past 100 years. Here are some possibilities: the Waltz from 1911; the Charleston from the 1920s; the Rumba from the 1930s; the Jitterbug from the 1940s; Rock ’n Roll from the 1950s; the Twist from the 1960s; Disco dancing from the 1970s; Breakdancing from the 1980s; the Macarena from the 1990s; and modern dance since 2000. Is your Chapter interested in representing a decade by showcasing a dance and modeling steps for attendees to join in? You might want to consider choosing the decade when your Chapter was chartered. Participating Chapters will collaborate with the Dance Coordinator to choose a song and then prepare dance routines including props and costumes. Click here to download the participation form.
