Educational issues are appearing daily in the news. It seems that everyone is talking about topics such as school safety, vouchers, charter schools, standardized testing, and teacher salaries. What’s interesting is that teachers are taking a more active role in advocacy. Are you interested in being part of the conversation and participating in advocacy, but you don’t know what to do? This webinar will give you some practical advice that focuses on three key areas.

About the Presenter
Nathan Bond
is a professor at Texas State University and the chair of KDP’s Public Policy Committee. Dr. Bond served nationally as KDP President from 2010 to 2012, and he has served locally as KDP Faculty Counselor at his university for the past 18 years. He has authored three articles on advocacy for KDP publications: “A Beginning Teacher’s Guide to Advocacy”; “Advocacy Throughout the Year: Taking a Stand for the Teaching Profession”; and “Voting as a Form of Professionalism: Five Steps to Take Now.” In addition, he has hosted two webinars: “Effective Advocacy: Five Steps for Sharing Your Expertise with Decision Makers” and “How You Can Become an Informed Voter: An Overview of the Four Political Parties’ Positions on Key Issues in Education.”
