Literacy Alive
The Reading Is Fun (RIF) program has a new name—Literacy Alive! The new name was selected to reflect the variety of activities that many KDP chapters include in their literacy events and to eliminate confusion with other reading programs. Though it carries a new moniker, the purpose of Literacy Alive! remains unchanged: to promote literacy among young people and support chapter programs that encourage a lifelong love of reading.

Conference of Principals
A one-day conference that invites all principals and assistant principals from Marion and surrounding counties to meet with a facilitator and make headway into retaining new teachers, particularly in the Indianapolis area. This conference is open to all administrators from elementary, middle, and high schools. A summary report following the conference will be disseminated, published, and posted on KDP’s Web site.

Counselor Academies
These free conferences provide counselors of KDP’s chapters with the opportunity to network, learn helpful and time-saving tips and strategies, and deepen their understanding of KDP. Attendees participate in interactive, small-group settings throughout the conference, sharing challenges and successes. At least four Counselor Academies are held each year across the country.
