Apply to be a Small Group Facilitator
We invite you to consider serving as a volunteer Facilitator for KDP’s premier leadership experience – the iLead Conference.
Southeast Region Facilitator Application
April 8–9, 2011 (due March 11)
Athens State University, Athens Alabama

What is the iLead Conference?
The iLead Conference is a two-day interactive institute for individual growth focused on developing teacher-leaders. Approximately 50—100 KDP members who are pre-service or beginning teachers will be in attendance. The Conference will be run by the Lead Coordinator who will manage the delivery of the program. Large group general sessions, presented to all participants by the Lead Coordinator, are complemented by small group discussions.

What is the role of the iLead Facilitator?
The iLead Facilitator performs an important role in the curriculum of the conference: assisting the participants in discussing and applying the concepts presented during the large group sessions in a more personal environment. Facilitators will individually lead a small group (10–20 people) through thought-provoking discussions and activities designed to help them learn how transformational leadership works for educators and how to create and implement a vision. With your guidance, members will learn about practical leadership skills and increase their capacity for making a difference in the lives of their students, around their school building, and in education overall.

A written curriculum providing instructions and an explanation on how to lead the small groups through the activities is provided to Facilitators. A training Webinar also will be offered about two weeks before the conference.

What will I gain from being a Facilitator?
iLead is an opportunity to break away from the day-to-day business of teaching and research and be among colleagues and students who share a passion for developing teacher-leaders. You will find professional development through your interactions with colleagues from across the country, the practice and development of facilitation skills, and structured conversations about the nature of your work. Additionally, you may find pieces of the curriculum that you can take back to your chapter or classes. We hope that Facilitators will find the experience of attending iLead to be as enriching as it is to our student participants.

In appreciation for your work as a Facilitator, your conference registration fee, travel, and accommodations will be covered by Kappa Delta Pi.

What are the expectations for a Facilitator?
Besides bringing a positive attitude and willingness to work hard and have fun, we also expect the following:

1.

Review all advance mailings and training materials prior to arrival at the conference. Participate in the training session given two weeks before the scheduled conference date.

2.

Adhere to the curriculum developed.

3.

Keep in contact with the students from your small group at least two times in the 12 months following the iLead program.

4.

Participate fully in the iLead program from beginning to end. Participate in all activities and meetings and make yourself available to participants during free time. Facilitators must agree to not conduct business (i.e., use of cell phones, email) during conference activities.

5.

Facilitators who also are KDP chapter counselors must register at least one student from their chapter at one of the 2010—2011 iLead Conferences.

6.

If facilitating outside your territory, consider serving in the future as an iLead Coordinator or Facilitator in your own territory.

Serving as an iLead Facilitator is an excellent opportunity to build on your facilitation experience and to pass on your knowledge and experience to students and pre-service teachers. If you would like to be an iLead Facilitator, please complete an application and submit it no later than March 11, 2011. You may submit the form in one of the following ways:
