Historic Legacy, Forward Planning
Celebrating our 100th anniversary has given us time to review KDP's history as an organization while setting strategic goals for the future. Though we recently launched the Public Policy site, advocacy is not new to KDP. For example, in 1934 KDP sent a resolution on federal aid for public education to the U.S. President.

Executive Director Education Roundtable Participant
Indianapolis Woman recently interviewed Faye Snodgress and other area educational leaders for a roundtable feature on teacher quality. See page 50 of this digital issue.

Ed Foundation Receives Target Grant

Target announced a partnership with KDP in recognition of KDP Literacy Alive!, the Society's  signature community service initiative. This $2K grant is part of Target's ongoing efforts to increase reading proficiency in students by the end of third grade.

Through 80
Literacy Alive! projects this year, KDP volunteers provided more than 13,000 hours of service that impacted 24,000 children and their families.

Your Generosity Helps Alabama Schools Recover
Following April's unprecedented tornado destruction, the Foundation answered members' requests to help with community and school recovery efforts. Thanks to the generosity of members and Chapters, the Educational Foundation maintains a special Emergency Response Fund to provide assistance when natural disasters strike.

Plainview School in Rainsville and Cullman School in Cullman (AL) both received financial assistance to provide students with basic necessities. Ron Bell, Plainview Principal, shared, "we continue to learn through this situation, that our fellow neighbors and those across the U.S. are gracious to lend thoughts, help, and support, and when we grow weary, that gives the added boost - to know that others understand and care."
