Member Accomplishments
Meike McDonald Meike McDonald, who is in her fifth year of teaching high school math at Septima P. Clark Corporate Academy in Charleston, SC, was nominated by her school for 2009–2010 Teacher of the Year. She also recently achieved National Board Certification in Adolescent and Young Adult Mathematics and is currently pursuing her Doctorate in Education in teacher leadership through Walden University. Meike, a member of KDP’s Tau Tau Chapter, has contributed to KDP’s Ideas to Go and maintains the engaging Web site, Ms. McDonald’s Math Emporium, where she offers various resources for both her students and mathematics colleagues.

Barbara Martin, a member of KDP’s Xi chapter since 1994, was recently named Cambridge Who’s Who Professional of the Year in Elementary  Education. Read more. >>>

Nikki Poslosky, a senior in the College of Education at the University of Missouri, helped set up a partnership between the Mu Delta Chapter and Columbia’s Moving Ahead Program. As the chapter president, Nikki enlisted chapter members, as well as other UM students and faculty members to donate more than 600 books, install shelving for the books, and set up a bi-weekly reading program. Megan Moore, of the Pi Beta Chapter at the University of Central Arkansas, was awarded the honor of Student Teacher of the Semester. Laura Fitts, Her mentor, said that Megan was deserving of this honor “because she demonstrates the initiative, resourcefulness, love, and creativity needed by all educators to be successful in this profession.” See the story.
