David Santandreu Calonge, Senior Education Development Officer of the Education Development Office at City University of Hong Kong, co-authored a paper that recently received international recognition. In-service Development for Teaching Assistants: An e-Learning Approach was honored with the Distinguished Paper Award at the 2011 International Conference on e-Commerce, e-Administration, e-Society, e-Education, and e-Technology in Tokyo, January 18–20, 2011.
The conference provided a platform for researchers, engineers, academicians, as well as industrial professionals from all over the world, to present their research results and development activities. This year, 560 papers were submitted from more than 40 countries. The acceptance rate of papers was about 67 percent, with approximately 10 percent winning the honour. Sir David also is the Counselor for the City University of Hong Kong Professional Chapter. |

Jenkins High School in Savannah, Georgia, was named a 2011 Savannah Morning News Teacher of Excellence, an honor bestowed based on her nomination by Student of Excellence Marquele Brown. See the published profile of their recognition. >>> Idaho State University's Cynthia Pemberton, Associate Dean of the ISU Graduate School and Professor of Educational Leadership, has been awarded a Fulbright scholarship to teach at the University of Malta, in Misida, Republic of Malta, for the 2011–12 academic year. Read more about this distinguished honor. >>> Dr. Charles Webber, former Academic Editor for KDP’s The Educational Forum, was appointed Dean of the newly created Faculty of Human, Social, and Educational Development at Thompson Rivers University, Kamloops, BC, Canada. A seasoned academic with roots in rural education and expertise in cross-cultural leadership development, and inclusive education, Dr. Webber heads the new faculty that brings together the School of Education, School of Social Work and Human Service, along with the department of English as a Second Language, and University Preparation and the Centre for Teaching and Learning.
