The University of Houston-Clear Lake recognized Sarah Bennett with the Dr. Patricia Potter Wilson School of Education Outstanding Undergraduate Student Scholarship. Sarah is working toward a Bachelor of Science in Interdisciplinary Studies with EC-6 Generalist Certification (Reading Concentration). She is the membership chair of the Omicron Kappa Chapter. |

Holly Mannucci was selected as the 2011 Middle Atlantic Conference Field Hockey Scholar-Athlete of the Year. The award criteria are based on a combination of academics, athletics and community service. Holly has a 3.88 GPA as an Early Childhood Education and Special Education double-major at King’s College. |

Dr. Lisa Dryden earned the Exemplary Teacher Award from the General Board of Higher Education and Ministry of the United Methodist Church. The program is a partnership between the church and Methodist-related educational institutions. The award symbolizes outstanding teaching and leadership. Dr. Dryden is a professor of education and the director of the master's education program at Texas Wesleyan University. She is also the counselor of the university’s KDP chapter. |
| Tonya McFay has been selected to receive the prestigious Gary Lee Scholarship through the Georgia Independent College Association. The award is awarded each year to a student who is approaching a final year of study in preparation for teaching. Tonya has received a number of honors and awards at Shorter University, including the School of Education Scholarship, the Georgia Baptist Scholarship, the Baptist Appreciation Scholarship, and the Louis Dowdle Cobb Scholarship. |

Texas Governor Rick Perry appointed Dr. Gwyn Boyter to the state’s Continuing Advisory Committee for Special Education. The committee provides policy guidance with respect to special education and related services for children with disabilities in Texas. Dr. Boyter is superintendent of the University of Texas-University Charter School. She is also a member of the American and Texas associations of School Administrators, Association for Supervision and Curriculum Development, and Texas Charter School Association Executive Council. |

The Fredonia College Foundation appointed Meagan Allers to the student representative seat on their board. "I am honored to be named to such a high position and have the responsibility to convey the students' needs on campus to the board," said Meagan. She has held leadership positions with Fredonia for St. Jude, which raised more than $25,000 in the last two years for Memphis, Tennessee's renowned St. Jude's Children's Hospital. |

Kathleen Rathgeber was honored as one of the 15 New Jersey Distinguished Student Teachers. She recently graduated from Seton Hall University’s Elementary/Special Education program with a 4.0 GPA. |
| Brian Tucker is the 2011 University of Missouri’s College of Education Undergraduate Student of the Year. This honor is awarded to a junior or senior student in the MU College of Education who has demonstrated leadership and involvement within the college and in the field of education. |
