Dr. Terrell Peace

Dr. Terrell Peace became the president-elect of the Association of Teacher Educators.  He also contributed to a newly published book called “Affective Teacher Education: Exploring Connections Among Knowledge, Skills, and Dispositions.”  In the book, Dr. Peace co-authored a chapter titled “Examining Teacher Candidates’ Perceptions of Teachers’ Professional Dispositions” based on research done with education students from Huntington University and two other schools.  He is the counselor of the Omega Psi Chapter at Huntington University.

Megan VanDenHengel

The Middle Atlantic Conference (MAC) named Megan VanDenHengel the 2009–2010 Scholar-Athlete for women’s cross country.  The MAC recognizes the senior athlete in each sport with the highest combined grade point average and athletic achievements.  Megan has a 3.78 cumulative grade point average as an elementary education major at Elizabethtown College.  She is a recipient of the Ruth Eshleman Alyhouse Scholarship and is an Elizabethtown College Scholar.

Dr. Edward Janak, Counselor of the Alpha Mu Chapter at the University of Wyoming in Laramie, was accepted into the University of Wyoming/Shanghai University faculty exchange program. During the summer of 2010, he will spend four weeks teaching a course at Shanghai University titled “Reactive History: The 20th Century United States through Youth Culture, Pop Culture, Sports Culture and School Culture.”

Anna Ferguson

Anna Ferguson was named a first-team selection on the 2009 Academic All-Southland Conference volleyball team. To be nominated, a student-athlete must produce an overall grade point average of 3.2 or higher, be a starter or front line reserve and have attended her university for at least one year prior to the competition season. Anna also is an officer on Sam Houston State University’s Student-Athlete Advisory Committee.

Stephanie Huth

Stephanie Huth was named the Landmark Conference’s senior scholar-athlete in women’s cross-country. The Landmark Conference honored Stephanie for her classroom accomplishments, athletic endeavors, and involvement in extracurricular activities. Stephanie, a member of KDP’s Sigma Chi chapter, maintains a 3.95 cumulative grade point average and is pursuing a degree in elementary education at the University of Scranton.

Dr. Dennis Degnan

Dr. Dennis Degnan was honored at the Simpson Baber Foundation’s 8th Annual Humanitarian Dinner for his efforts on behalf of children with autism and related disorders.  Dr. Degnan is the principal of Lincoln Community School in Bayonne, NJ.  In addition to being a KDP member, he is president of the Community Day Nursery Board of Directors, treasurer of the Bayonne Public School Administrators' Association, secretary of the Bayonne Chapter of UNICO, and national director of Bayonne School Employees' Federal Credit Union.

Michelle Abadie

Michelle Abadie was named Fall 2009 Outstanding Graduate at the University of Louisiana at Lafayette. Michelle, a member of the Delta Iota Chapter, also has received the TOPS Honors Award, UL COE Avec Souci Endowed Scholarship, UL Centennial Scholarship, and the Alexander Haig Endowed Scholarship. After Hurricane Katrina, she worked to rebuild houses in her home parish of St. Bernard and worked with children who were affected by the disaster. She has contributed to the Lafayette community as a volunteer at the Special Olympics, Walk for Hope and Autism Awareness, Woodvale Elementary Math Day and the college’s team at Relay for Life.

Megan McGrath

Megan McGrath was crowned 2009 Homecoming queen at Marietta College, Marietta, OH.  Megan is Vice President of Marietta’s Psi Zeta Chapter.

Eleanor "Ellie" Ypma

Eleanor "Ellie" Ypma was elected Director of the Putnam County Community Foundation.  Ellie’s professional experience includes various positions at DePauw University from 1971 to 2004 including Registrar and Associate Vice President with a rank of professor.  Since retirement, she volunteers in the After School Reading Program at Gobin Memorial United Methodist Church and The Putnam County Museum. She serves on the Scholarship Committee of the Putnam County Community Foundation and continues to be active with the DePauw retirees group.

Dr. Marcia Griffiths-Prince, faculty with the Ed.D Program in the Richard W. Riley College of Education and Leadership at Walden University has published Cultivating Parental Involvement in Middle Schools: A Case Study.
