Award History |
At the recommendation of the Kappa Delta Pi Chapter Services Committee, this award was created and introduced at Convocation 2007. It is designed to honor counselors who demonstrate service, personal scholarship, professional development, outstanding leadership of the chapter, and mentorship of the chapter’s student leaders. |
Award Information |
Individuals must apply for the award. A portfolio housing detailed documentation is required covering at least five years of KDP service and activity. |
Award Qualifications |
Any counselor who is a current active, renewed, or new member of Kappa Delta Pi and has served for five years is eligible. All applications are due June 1. The number of recipients for this award is not limited in any given year. To be awarded this honor, an applicant must submit examples that total or exceed 100 points. |
| • | Nominations must be made from a current or former chapter leader, a colleague, or a Kappa Delta Pi Staff Member. |
| • | The counselor’s chapter must show a steady increase in member recruitment and/or retention. |
| • | Counselors must document a minimum of five examples in each category: service, personal scholarship, and professional development. Submissions may be electronic, DVD, or paper portfolio. |
| • | The chapter’s annual report must be submitted by the August 1 deadline in each of the five years. |
Award Presentation |
| The O.L. Davis, Jr. Counselor or Distinction Award is awarded during Convo years to all who apply and meet the criteria. Recipients receive a Certificate of Achievement, a medallion, acknowledgement in the KDP Record and special recognition at Convocation. A letter of recognition also is sent to the counselor’s Dean, Provost, and College President. |
