Literacy Alive History
KDP Literacy Alive! Began in 1993 as a branch of Reading Is fundamental, Inc., at that time the program was titled KDP Reading Is Fun. As the program aged in 2007, Kappa Delta Pi elected to change the name of its literacy program to Literacy Alive! to better reflect the scope of many chapters’ programs and to eliminate confusion with the Reading is Fundamental program. Literacy Alive! continues to support the literacy activities of Kappa Delta Pi chapters in their communities by offering grants to qualified chapters.

KDP RIF has grown over the years both in the number of chapters who participate and the number of individuals served. KDP is hopeful that the RIF program will continue to grow so that support can be provided for more and more literacy programs.
