Program: Raffle Ticket Sales
Chapter: Upsilon Omega Chapter at Cumberland University, TN
Level: Easy

Materials:
• Raffle tickets
• Prizes
• Marketing flyers with descriptions of prizes

How To:
• Contact a school, daycare, shelter, library, hospital, etc. willing to accept a donation of books.
• Contact at least one venue from which the books can be collected.
• Begin advertising the collection by posting flyers, writing letters to elementary school parents, or even submitting information to a local newspaper. Encourage members to bring books to meetings and events, as well.
• Create a system for organizing the books such as by reading level, theme, or genre.
• Establish a checkout system by which children can borrow books.
• Deliver the books (and shelves, if necessary) to the designated organization.

Add a Twist:
• Create bookplates with Kappa Delta Pi and university name
• Ask a local retailer to match the public’s book donation
• At the time of drop off, plan activities or bring snacks along with the books to the organization
• Make bookmarks or reading journals to accompany the donation
