The Gamma Xi Chapter sponsored four successful RIF Week events.

• Chapter Meeting/RIF Preparation
  • After conducting its normal business, chapter members made more than 100 bookmarks to distribute to children.
• Athlete Reading Afternoon
  • The chapter invited university athletes to visit a local school and spend time reading to second-grade students. A special book was donated to each class.
• Afternoon with a Book and a Buddy
  • Members visited the local YMCA and put on a skit. They also spent time reading to the children. Each of the children received a bag of treats and a special bookmark made by KDP members.
• Pajama Reading Night
  • Members hosted an evening of reading for area children at the county library. Participants came dressed in pajamas and even brought along their favorite “stuffed” friends. Each child received a bag of treats and a special bookmark made by KDP members.
• This chapter also helped to establish a Future Educators of America (FEA) Club at a local high school two years ago. This year, members of the club were invited join KDP chapter members in a RIF activity. FEA members conducted a book drive through which they collected more than 200 books. These books were donated to an inner-city school in Philadelphia.
