Chapter Bulletin Boards

Bulletin boards have proven to be successful tools in maintaining communication with chapter members. Below you will see some examples of chapter bulletin boards. The most important part of having a chapter bulletin board is to keep it current, so chapter members know to check it often. Chapters are encouraged to include the following items in the display:

Title: Kappa Delta Pi
General Society information (scholarships, conferences, member benefits)
Calendar of chapter events
Chapter counselor and officers’ contact information
Current pictures of chapter events – change them frequently to draw attention to the board

Eta Iota Chapter
Edinboro University, PA

The Eta Iota Chapter shares its bulletin board with the Pennsylvania State Educators Association (PSEA). By sharing the bulletin board, the two organizations have visibility on campus, but maintain their own identity. This is a great way to build a partnership with another education organization, and is particularly ideal when bulletin board availability is limited.

Sigma Tau Chapter at Mount Saint Mary College, NY
The Sigma Tau Chapter’s bulletin board uses all the space available, but does not appear cluttered. The board features Society scholarships that are available, informational brochures and bookmarks, and logos for the Society and the chapter. It is neat, clean, and very effective.

Beta Epsilon Chapter at Longwood University, VA
As a way to recognize new initiates, this chapter used an Apple Tree Bulletin Board. Each apple floating down from the tree had a new member’s name on it.

Gamma Phi Chapter at Northwestern State University, LA
As part of its Honor an Educator Program, this chapter recognized its counselor for her outstanding work and congratulated her on completing her doctoral degree.

Delta Delta Chapter at Winthrop University, SC
To recruit new members, this chapter used a catchy saying and posted pictures of chapter events.

Beta Lambda Chapter at University of Montevallo, AL
Bright colors and fun die cuts accented information about upcoming events and opportunities for membership. This chapter also posted international scholarship information.

Alpha Beta Kappa Chapter at Valdosta State University, GA
Simple but effective. This chapter created visibility for itself by displaying a variety of different member benefits.

Tau Pi Chapter at Kings College, PA
Notice how the chapter displays t-shirts. This is a great way to showcase t-shirts or other apparel the chapter may be selling as a fund-raiser.

Pi Iota Chapter at Tarleton State University, TX
This chapter created a seasonally themed board. Changing the display by season is a good way to keep people checking for updates.

Epsilon Alpha at Towson University, MD
This chapter makes great use of its bulletin board to advertise chapter events and fund-raisers. Notice how well a lot of information is organized.

Pi Chapter at Eastern Michigan University
The chapter created a board that makes great use of it's space and is easy to update. Passersby can check upcoming events or grab a membership application.

Alpha Zeta Chapter at Pittsburg State University, KS
This chapter's board simply and effectively markets KDP. Two banners draw attention to KDP, while pictures, chapter awards and a copy of The New Teacher Advocate depict KDP benefits.

Things to think about:
Vary colors as you change the board to attract attention
Use seasonal or theme decorations to create an eye-catching display
Choose a location where many college of education students travel such as a main hallway or at the top of a set of stairs
Keep the board clean and neat–sometimes less is more.
