Announcements and Reminders

Great News! Kappa Delta Pi Scholarships will be offered this year! Visit http://www.kdp.org/educationalfoundation/scholarships.php for more information. The Scholarship Deadline is April 29, 2011.

At this time, your chapter should have received the Spring 2011 Mailing & Rebate. Please be sure to make sure you've gotten yours, so you don't miss out on your chapter's rebate check (you have 90 days to deposit). Additionally, if you'd like to receive all future mailings electronically only, please e-mail mcs@kdp.org. This spring's mailing is already available online at http://www.kdp.org/chapters/chaptermailingarchives.php

Reminder! Submit Your Proposal
to be a Convo 2011 presenter

You and your students are invited to submit a proposal for Convo 2011. The conference theme is Crossroads of Excellence. Never presented before? No problem! Creative ideas are always appreciated and may be introduced in a variety of formats. This includes our traditional workshop setting, our two poster sessions-one about excellent KDP chapter programs and the other about best practices in the PreK-12 setting; and our new research roundtables format. Presentation topics could include:

• Collaboration to improve teaching
• Using social media tools in the classroom
• Global challenges in education
• Innovative teaching techniques

Please consider these and other opportunities to share your experience and expertise with your colleagues at the Kappa Delta Pi 48th Biennial Convocation . For all types of presentations-workshops, poster sessions, and research roundtables-you must submit a proposal that is relevant to one of the conference strands or suggested topics. All proposals will be evaluated according to established standards. Proposals are due March 1, 2011. For guidelines, selection criteria, and proposal submission form, go to www.kdp.org/convo2011 .

Time is running out! Be part of the program at our Centennial Convocation!

Do you like to make history come alive?  Consider portraying a historical figure at Convo! For Convo 2011, the History Committee is seeking members to portray individuals who were important to Kappa Delta Pi during our 100-year existence . Click here for complete details.

Founders Day very small

March 8 is Kappa Delta Pi's 100th Anniversary!
In respect of this momentous anniversary, we encourage chapters and their members to reflect on the ideals of KDP and to celebrate the accomplishments of their chapters and our International Society.
How will you celebrate? We have ideas and suggested events to help you plan a memorable Founder's Day. You can see them on the Centennial site's Founder's Day section at   www.kdp.org/100years/foundersdayideas.php.

P.S. On Saturday, March 5, KDP hosts a special Founder's Day Celebration at the site of its founding - University of Illinois.
