The university community is a composite, made up of the multiple
pursuits of the many faculty and students as they interact with one
another in teaching, learning, and research. Kappa Delta Pi values
the many KDP members serving in higher education faculty positions
at colleges and universities across the country, and at institutions
around the world. Several of these faculty members are in education
preparation programs, working to develop preservice teachers, practicing
teachers seeking graduate degrees, future administrators, and perhaps
contributing to the research and study of current and future education
practices. Other faculty members study fields outside of education
and demonstrate the commitment to excellence and high ideals KDP
promotes for all educators, no matter the grade level or subject
matter taught.
University faculty members are pulled in many different directions.
Their tasks include teaching, researching, advising, presenting, mentoring,
writing, serving on committees, keeping abreast of current trends,
service, and much more. All faculty members, no matter how long their
tenure, bring to their positions talents, skills, knowledge, and creative
ideas that no one else possesses. Faculty members who are connected
to Kappa Delta Pi, either as members or chapter counselors, also have
at their disposal a wealth of resources and support that the Society
provides. |
