The Conference

Join the Kappa Eta chapter of Kappa Delta Pi at St. John's University at their 2025 New York Regional Conference. The theme of this conference is AI & technology in education.

Expert professors will present on AI and technology changing the classroom today. St. John's University's Career Services will present on networking and a key way to integrate technology into the process. We will even hear from KDP headquarters!

The Vision

Our vision in hosting this mini-conference is to provide high-quality professional development opportunities for pre-and in-service teachers currently pursuing an education or education-related degree. We hope to educate members on relevant and impactful topics that they can bring into the classroom. We also aim to facilitate networking opportunities among members who may not otherwise connect, fostering professional relationships that lead to career growth today and for years to come.

Who will you hear from?

Dr. Weedens Blanchard, St. John's University

Dr. Blanchard will lead us in taking a look at the evolution of technology and discuss how best Educators can utilize it towards their advantage in the Teaching & Learning Environment.

​Dr. Weedens E. Blanchard is an experienced Education administrator with 21+ years of combined experience in academic management, project management, information technology, training & development, and mentoring. He recieved his PD in Instructional Leadership and an Ed.D. in Educational Administration & Supervision from St. John’s University. Dr. Blanchard was announced the eleventh principal of Holy Cross High School as of July 1, 2023. Prior to this appointment, he has served in various Education leadership roles such as: Assistant Dean, Senior Learning and Development Consultant, and Interim Director. He also works as an Adjunct Assistant Professor for the School of Education at St. John’s University, where he teaches a variety of undergraduate and graduate education courses.

Professor Salvatore G. Garofalo, Queens College

Professor Garofalo will present on AI's benefits to a teacher both in and outside of the classroom.​

Salvatore Garofalo is Assistant Professor of Science and Technology Education at Queens College, CUNY. He earned his doctorate in Cognitive Science at Columbia University. His expertise is in pedagogical content knowledge related to technology integration in science education. His areas of research include cognition in science, the development of spatial thinking, cutting-edge technologies in the science classroom, and the impact of technology on spatial ability and conceptual understanding. He is coauthor of Spatial Intelligence: Why it Matters from Birth through the Lifespan. Dr. Garofalo is a co-principal investigator on an NSF Noyce grant that investigates exploratory practices, technology integration, and retention of educators in STEM education.

Ms. Nikki Pebbles-Perretti, Career and Internship Advisor for St. John's University The School of Education

Ms. Pebbles-Perretti will present on networking, how to integrate technology into the process, and give helpful tips for making connections at the conference that day.

Mr. Christopher Whited, Kappa Delta Pi

Mr. Whited will host a session on behalf of KDP National Office.​
