Educating for Sustainable Development in a Common Core Environment: Strategies for Elementary Teachers (webcast)
Education for sustainable development (ESD) means more than recycling or environmental conservation efforts; it is a broader issue rooted in democracy, community, and equity. These concepts create connections to all disciplines, enabling teachers to add a sustainability lens to existing curriculum and required standards. Presenter and sustainability expert Susan Santone gives examples of ESD as it applies to elementary grades and conveys how this makes standards-based instruction more integrated, relevant, and rigorous.
