Kappa Delta Pi (KDP) inspires and equips teachers to thrive. Celebrating excellence in teaching from campus to classroom, KDP provides community, connection, and competencies for teacher candidates in their final years of preparation as well as teachers in the classroom. Short Description

The Assistant Director of Advancement & Partnerships (ADAP) plays a critical role in the growth and diversification of KDP’s development efforts. This position is part of the close-knit team with the Chief Advancement & Partnerships Officer (CAPO) and the Assistant to Advancement & Partnerships. The ADAP works closely with the CAPO and the Chief Executive Officer to develop and implement campaigns and solicit support from donors and partners. Check out this short video from the CAPO.  

Position Duties

  1. Operationalize multimedia fundraising campaigns collaboratively with team.
    1. Solicit monetary and in-kind donations.
    2. Collaborate with marketing to create content, graphics, and print pieces.
    3. Build Classy online fundraising giving campaigns and messages.
    4. Coordinate production and mailing of fundraising appeals, including the development of mailing lists.
    5. Oversee $10K Chapter Challenge program by soliciting gifts, updating progress on website, recording in Association Anywhere membership database, and tracking awards hardware for participants.
  2. Cultivate relationships with donors, partners, volunteers, and staff
    1. Build and deepen relationships with members, donors, partners, and staff.
    2. Provide high-quality customer service to make KDP a nonprofit and partner of choice.
    3. Draft reports for partners to show ROI on agreements.
    4. Manage GuideStar profile for organization.
    5. Support annual budgeting cycle and work plan creation.
  3. Identify prospects through a systematic program of prospect research and evaluation.
    1. Research prospective corporate, foundation, individual, and government donors to ensure a healthy pipeline of potential donors and funders. 
    2. Assemble donor briefing materials/packets for meetings.
  4. Ensure the maintenance of records on all gifts, pledges, agreements, donor files, and correspondence, for prospects, donors, and partners.
    1. Maintain accurate, complete, secure, and up-to-date partnership and individual donor electronic files that contain detailed information on each relationship.
    2. Create and update profiles for partners, donors, and/or prospects.
    3. Prepare donation and partnership report data for Chief Advancement & Partnerships Officer as well as the KDP Chief Officers and Board of Directors.
    4. Maintain standards for donor confidentiality, stewardship, and use of funds.
  5. Oversee KDP endowed chapter grant and scholarship fund administration.
    1. Coordinate chapter grant fund requests with Administrative Team, Member Experience Team, and chapter.
    2. Maintain chapter grant and scholarship fund electronic files.
    3. Draft award reports for chapter grant and scholarship fund donors in Informz email marketing platform.
    4. Fully implement process within Association Anywhere membership database to notify chapters of chapter grant funds available.
    5. Support collection of scholarship and chapter grant recipient testimony.
  6. Manage funding opportunities for members.
    1. Oversee the KDP ATE Student Teacher of the Year Award application, marketing, awarding, celebration, and reporting.
    2. Oversee the Classroom Teacher Grant application, marketing, awarding, celebration, and reporting.
  7. Utilize technology for efficient work processes, detailed reporting, and high-touch engagement.
    1. Prepare comprehensive Excel spreadsheets by running reports, using formulas to manipulate information, and inserting additional data through VLOOKUPs.
    2. Perform mail merges to create personalized emails, letters, and mailing labels.
    3. Collaboratively work in files on Office 365 SharePoint.
    4. Host Zoom meetings and manage recordings, polls, breakout rooms, and troubleshooting for attendees.
    5. Maximize digital fundraising campaigns through the Classy platform by utilizing Classy newsletters and trainings to be the expert on staff.
    6. Ensure quality work, including the organization of documents and plans in Monday.com for a remote-first collaborative team-based environment, engaging in team discussions, and meeting deadlines.
  8. Complete other duties as assigned by supervisor or CEO.


What You’ll Need for Success

Education: Bachelor’s degree required. A degree in Advancement, Philanthropic Studies, Communications, or related area is preferred.

Experience: Experience with fundraising in a nonprofit is preferred.

Knowledge: Proficient use of Microsoft Office 365 Suite (e.g., Word, Excel, Outlook, and Teams), Zoom, project management platforms, email marketing platforms, association management systems, and/or customer relationship management systems.

Skills and Competencies: Advanced client and relationship management skills. Strong oral and written communication abilities. Well organized and professional. Attention-to-detail and a high level of comfort working with technology online with a willingness to learn new platforms.
