Hello everyone!
My name is Brianne Harms. I am a senior at Lewis University and majoring in Special Education. I am on my 7th year as a special education paraprofessional. Even though I love my job I want to be able to do more for my students, so 2 years ago I went back to school for my Bachelor's Degree in Special Education. It hasn't been an easy journey like we had planned. Before my second semester started my husband was killed at work. I instantly became a single parent to 2 teenagers, lost the love of my life/soulmate/best friend/best girl dad, and had to make funeral arrangements. I had paperwork to do to make sure my girls and I were taken care of, which became a very long process. I returned to school to continue my degree. With the help of my family and my in-laws I was able to eventually return to work and went back to school when it started up. With giving things up and having to ask for help, I am still on the same track I was when I started this journey. I'm currently student teacher and will be graduating in May 2025. I can't wait for the next chapter of my life to begin.
