Children’s Literature: Lesson Plans and Resources This site provides a plethora of links to lesson plans, teacher guides, and other instructional resources for children’s literature in grades K–6. Even if you don’t need Colorado standards, you’ll probably find a lesson plan that fits your needs at this comprehensive site populated by educators across Colorado. You can search a catalog of content by curriculum or keywords on this well-organized site. EDSITEment This National Endowment for the Humanities site offers a variety of lesson plans by grade level and subject in the areas of art and culture; literature and language arts; foreign language; and history and social studies. Education World Education World is chock full of information for educators and administrators. In the Lesson Planning section, teachers can find timely and continuously updated lesson plans, as well as worksheets and other printables. Lesson Plans Page HotChalk’s Lesson Plans Page offers more than 4,000 free lesson plans that you can access by selecting a subject, recent additions, seasonal lessons, or by searching for specific topics. HotChalk.com provides free online teacher tools and thousands of additional teacher resources. LessonPlanZ Searchable directory of free online lesson plans and resources for all grades and subjects. Library of Congress Visit the Teachers Section of the Library of Congress (LOC) online—it’s your primary source source! How often have you wanted to use a primary source and didn't have enough time to look one up or investigate a site’s quality? Look no further for primary sources! The Teachers section at LOC, including Teachers Preview, is an excellent web site for resources on every subject. It also offers an educator-friendly section on how to teach using primary sources. At LOC-Teachers, you can choose categories, subjects, and much more through a drop-down search tool, or link to podcasts, webcasts, lesson plans, and other resource sites through the site menu. Get on board the LOC—it’s well worth the surf. It also links to news releases and, best of all, provides information on how to host your own book festival! Grade levels: All grades. National Archives The National Archives is the U.S. Government’s collection of documents that records important events in American history. Among the wealth of information available for information and research is a section particularly for educators and students. The Digital Classroom is the National Archives’ gateway for resources about primary sources, activities, and training for educators and students. PBS Teachers Educators of various levels will find lessons, activities, and ideas for various subject areas, including many technology-related activities. Some, but not all are tied to PBS programming. Scholastic Ready-to-Go Resources Teachers can find lesson plans by theme, subject, grade, or season to fit their curriculum. Grade levels: PreK–12. TeacherVision Lessons and activities for PreK–12 grade students in all curricular areas. TeAchnology The TeAchnology site provides a vast wealth of resources for educators, including more than 30,000 lesson plans for educators of various levels and subject areas—from math and science to physical education and vocational education. The plans give the national standard covered as well as other pertinent information. Other resources include worksheets, rubrics, education news, teaching tips, and teacher tools for creating exciting classroom instruction. The Educator’s Reference Desk Teachers can access more than 2,000 unique lesson plans written by teachers from all over the world, as well as a database of questions asked by educators, a guide on writing lesson plans, and much more.
