Your chapter’s future depends on you!
You can help make sure the chapter continues to succeed even after you leave. Leadership transition is the most important piece of sustaining chapter success. If you haven’t already, plan to meet with your next set of officers and train them on the positions or have a Skype conversation, or even send an email giving them some guidance for the future of the chapter. Make sure your efforts were a foundation for future success, not the ceiling.
Chapter Highlight
Chapter Highlight
So far this year, KDP has welcomed 13 new chapters! One that particularly stands out with their activities is the Alpha Theta Omicron Chapter at Roberts’ Wesleyan College. In just a few short months, their accomplishments include holding an incredible installation ceremony, developing a great group of new officers, and completing their first fundraiser. Congratulations to the chapter for getting off to such a great start!
After the Ceremony
After the Ceremony
After your spring initiation wraps up, be sure to visit MyKDP and approve your new members so their benefits can begin! The Initiation Report should also be completed at this time. This report only takes a few minutes to complete and helps to ensure that KDP receives accurate information for your chapter’s new members.
Be Awarded
Be Awarded!
As you reflect on the academic year, think about the programs and leaders that have made a mark on your chapter. KDP presents awards to recognize great programs, individuals, and chapters! Check out the website for rubrics and criteria for each category. Be sure to submit by June 1; winners will be recognized at Convo in October. We hope to see you there!
Upcoming Reports
Upcoming Reports
Two report deadlines will be here before you know it! The Semester Celebration Report (due May 15) and the Annual Financial Report (due August 1) are now available on the KDP website. The information gathered helps to keep KDP records up to date, while giving you a chance to share your successes.
Why Come to Convo
Why Come to Convo?
We are recruiting Pirates for Pittsburgh! Join us for Convo 2017 and you will be inspired to “Teach Like a Pirate” by Dave Burgess. Besides hearing our amazing keynote speakers and the hundreds of professional development sessions, you also will have opportunities to network with other KDP chapter members and leaders, be recognized for your service, pick up awards, shop the KDP Store, and get out to see what Pittsburgh has to offer!
Chapter Challenge
Has your Chapter accepted our Challenge?
Your Chapter Challenge contribution enables KDP to invest in our members. We help educators LEARN by underwriting professional development activities and scholarships; LEAD by supporting leadership development programs, Literacy Alive! community service projects, and Classroom Teacher Grants; and GROW by providing resources and services for each career stage. Visit the website for some ideas on how your chapter can achieve your $150 commitment.
Literacy Alive
Literacy Alive!
You have just over one month left to complete your Literacy Alive! Achievement Form. Remember to submit your report to Headquarters by May 15. We can’t wait to read them and learn about the work you’ve done in your community as part of KDP’s signature service initiative.
Honor Your Counselor
Honor Your Counselor
Want to honor and thank your counselors for all they have done for your chapter? The Honor Your Counselor program gives you the opportunity to thank them with a gift card, a note from staff, and a note in the KDP Counselor’s Lounge at #KDPConvo17. Help us create a space at Convo where counselors can relax, network, and bring great ideas back to your chapter. The Counselor’s Lounge at Convo is funded exclusively by the dollars you donate in this campaign!
