Meet KDP teacher member Mrs. Gina Stevens, a dedicated educator who’s passionate about making every student feel seen and valued. Mrs. Stevens brings warmth and heart to her diverse classroom every single day. Thanks to a KDP Classroom Teacher Grant, she was able to bring bilingual books into her space—something her students truly value.

Q: How has your KDP community helped you thrive in the classroom?

A: The KDP community has helped me thrive in the classroom with their inspiring weekly emails. In addition, they have a classroom grant each year and I was so thankful to be chosen. This grant provided bilingual books for my very diverse classroom. My students appreciate it!

Q: What inspires you to teach?

A: What inspires me to teach is the visible impact I get to make each day on another human's life. My students are so kind to me. I'm very fortunate. They are the reason I get out of bed in the morning. I get to work with many students from all over the world. I have visited many countries and sat with many different cultures all within my classroom walls. Each student has a story, and I cherish them all.

Q: Outside the classroom, what hobbies or interests do you enjoy?

A: Outside of the classroom, I enjoy many calm hobbies. This includes taking care of plants, crafts, being in nature, reading, drinking coffee, being around animals, cooking and baking, photography, and really anything that an 80-year-old woman might also enjoy doing.
