Meet Britny Slyvester from the Alpha Epsilon Gamma Chapter at Grand Canyon University! As a passionate early childhood educator, she’s driven by the chance to make a meaningful impact on her students’ academic and personal growth. Through KDP, Britny has gained a strong professional network, valuable strategies, and the confidence to try new approaches in the classroom.

Q: How has your KDP community helped you thrive in the classroom?

A: Being a part of the Kappa Delta Pi community has provided me with a strong professional network and a wealth of resources that support my growth as an educator. Through KDP, I’ve had access to meaningful professional development opportunities, research-based strategies, and inspiring stories from fellow educators. These resources have helped me implement best practices in my classroom and have given me the confidence to try new approaches to meet the diverse needs of my students. The encouragement and collaboration within the KDP community remind me that I am never alone in my journey as a teacher. It is empowering to be part of an organization that values excellence in education and supports educators at all stages of their careers. KDP has truly enriched my experience in the classroom and has helped me grow as both a teacher and a lifelong learner.

Q: What inspires you to teach?

A: What inspires me to teach is the opportunity to make a meaningful and lasting impact on the lives of young children. I believe that education is a powerful tool that can shape not only academic success, but also the emotional, social, and moral development of a child. Each day in the classroom is a new chance to spark curiosity, encourage growth, and build confidence in my students. I am particularly passionate about early childhood education because it lays the foundation for lifelong learning. The joy on a child’s face when they grasp a new concept or the pride they feel when they overcome a challenge reminds me why I chose this profession. I am inspired by the resilience and potential of my students, and I strive to be a consistent, caring, and motivating presence in their lives. Teaching is not just a job for me—it’s a calling that fills my heart with purpose and pride.

Q: Outside the classroom, what hobbies or interests do you enjoy?

A: Outside the classroom, I enjoy spending quality time with my family and close friends. I love reading educational literature as well as inspirational books that support personal and professional growth. I also enjoy crafting, decorating, and creating learning materials that I can use in my classroom. When I have time, I like exploring nature, listening to music, and attending community events. These hobbies allow me to recharge, stay grounded, and return to the classroom with a renewed sense of energy and creativity.
