Each chapter has the option to ask the KDP National Office to collect chapter dues in addition to national dues. KDP remits the collected chapter dues back to the chapter at a later date. This service is provided free of charge. Due to increasing costs related to the issuance of checks, KDP has established parameters and limitations to ensure the costs of the service do not outweigh the benefit provided.
All members must pay national dues online directly to the KDP National Office each year to remain an active member of KDP. Chapters may also choose to have the KDP National Office collect chapter dues in addition to national dues. A chapter should contact the national office if they want to add or change the chapter dues amount collected.
Chapter dues are determined by the chapter and paid by new and/or renewing members when they pay their required KDP national dues. The chapter dues appear on the membership invoice when someone joins or renews.
· New member chapter dues most often range between $15 and $30, depending on whether the chapter provides cords at graduation.
· Renewing member chapter dues are usually a lower amount.
· As of 2025, the minimum chapter dues amount KDP will collect is $10 and the maximum is $65.
Chapter Dues Distribution
The KDP National Office will typically distribute chapter dues by the 28th of the month following the month in which the funds were collected, except for chapters receiving payment by check.
· Checks are mailed only in September, October, November, January, February, March, and April.
· Chapters receive an email when the KDP National Office remits funds to the chapter.
· The preferred remittance method is direct deposit (ACH) through BILL, formerly Bill.com.
· Once ACH is established and the chapter's account is linked in BILL, the KDP National Office deposits all funds owed to the chapter, regardless of amount.
· If ACH is not established, the KDP National Office will remit chapter dues by check according to the following guidelines:
· Any amount collected as of August 31 will be remitted in September, regardless of the balance due.
· After the September distribution, checks will be issued when accumulated chapter dues reach $100 or more.
· Funds that do not reach the $100 threshold will remain on the chapter account until additional dues are collected and the threshold is met or until the following annual September distribution, whichever comes first.
· Checks are void 90 days after issuance. KDP will reissue one check if the original check is not deposited within 90 days.
· If a check remains uncashed, KDP emails the chapter a reminder after 60 days.
· If the replacement check is not deposited within 90 days of issuance, the funds will be converted to a nonrefundable chapter challenge donation to KDP on behalf of the chapter.
