For Ms. Vladine Roche, KDP has been a source of connection, encouragement, and professional growth.
“My KDP family has allowed me to truly flourish in my classroom,” Vladine shared. “They provide purposeful professional development, collaboration, and educational resources.”
As a seventh-grade teacher and member of the Alpha Epsilon Gamma Chapter at Grand Canyon University, Vladine says KDP has connected her with educators who motivate her to grow both professionally and personally. Through those relationships, she has been encouraged to reflect on her practice, try new instructional strategies, and stay grounded in what matters most: equity and student success.
One of Vladine’s most meaningful KDP experiences has been serving as a scholarship reviewer. Reading essays from future educators gave her the opportunity to encourage aspiring teachers while learning more about their classroom experiences, goals, and passion for the profession.
“This made me love mentoring, leading, and learning even more,” she said.
KDP has also reminded Vladine that she is not alone in her teaching journey. The opportunity to network and collaborate with other educators has helped her feel empowered, connected, and eager to continue creating meaningful learning experiences for her students.
What inspires Vladine most is the opportunity to make a lasting impact on students’ lives, both academically and personally. She is especially motivated by the growth she sees when students begin to believe in themselves, discover their strengths, and recognize their potential.
“I love creating a classroom environment where students feel seen, supported, challenged, and encouraged to think critically about the world around them,” Vladine said.
She is especially passionate about supporting students who may struggle with confidence, identity, or feeling overlooked. Her experiences in education have shown her the power of positive relationships, culturally responsive teaching, and encouragement in shaping a student’s future.
Vladine’s doctoral journey and research interests in equity, identity, and student experiences continue to inspire her work as an educator. She believes teaching is more than delivering content; it is about empowering students, building community, and helping young people recognize their voice and value.
Outside the classroom, Vladine enjoys traveling, spending time with family, reading, journaling, and exploring different cultures. Traveling has deepened her appreciation for diversity, history, and global perspectives, which she often brings into her classroom to make learning more meaningful and engaging.
She also enjoys planning cultural and community-centered events that bring people together and celebrate different backgrounds and traditions. In addition, Vladine is passionate about fitness and martial arts, particularly boxing and Muay Thai. Training helps her stay focused, disciplined, and balanced while providing a positive outlet for stress management and personal growth.
Whether she is mentoring future educators, supporting her seventh-grade students, or continuing her own learning journey, Vladine’s commitment to equity, community, and student success shines through in all she does.
