Member Spotlight: Ms. Mackenzie Bright

For Ms. Mackenzie Bright, becoming an educator is more than a career. It is part of her family legacy.

A kindergarten teacher with Kanawha County Schools, Ms. Bright is proud to be the third generation of educators in her family. Teaching has been a lifelong dream, inspired by her passion for encouraging young learners and helping them grow both inside and outside the classroom.

“Becoming a dedicated and well-equipped educator has been a lifelong dream, driven by my passion for inspiring and supporting young minds,” she shared. “It gives me a great sense of purpose to have the ability to do so.”

Her time with KDP’s Lambda Zeta Chapter at West Virginia State University has played an important role in helping her grow as both an educator and a leader. By stepping into leadership roles within her chapter, Ms. Bright discovered strengths and abilities she did not realize she had.

Just as meaningful have been the relationships she has built along the way. Connecting with fellow chapter members and her chapter counselor showed her how important community can be throughout an educator’s journey.

“Developing strong bonds with my fellow chapter members taught me the importance of community in the field of education and solidified my belief that learning is a lifelong journey,” she said. “I learn from my fellow members and counselor every day, and I could not be more grateful for that.”

When she is not in the classroom, Ms. Bright enjoys reading and spending time with her friends and family.
