Meet Mr. Michael Castiglia, MSEd, a secondary social studies and special education teacher with the Copiague Union School District and a KDP United Nations Representative on our Global Change Team.

Mr. Castiglia is passionate about helping students understand the world around them and see how history connects to the issues shaping their lives today. In the classroom, he focuses on creating accessible, engaging lessons that strengthen the skills students need for school, future careers, and active civic life. He is also a strong supporter of helping young people better understand politics and navigate an increasingly complex society.

A graduate of the University of Mount Saint Vincent, Mr. Castiglia earned a Bachelor of Arts in History and a Master of Science in Education in Secondary Education and Students with Disabilities. His commitment to learning and service is also reflected in his membership in three academic honor societies, including Kappa Delta Pi, Phi Alpha Theta, and Lambda Pi Eta.

Beyond the classroom, Mr. Castiglia has established an endowment dedicated to promoting the importance of history and its continued relevance in today’s world.
